Hi all, very happy to share with you that we've acquired a copy of what seems to be a full draft version of the ThunderCats movie script penned by Paul Sopocy. We're waiting on official confirmation but I'm halfway through this thing and am convinced it is the real deal.

It's also a terrific screenplay and I would have loved to see this movie made.

Check it out, story is being carried at http://www.thundercatslair.org

Note: There is no Snarf in this movie, Panthro has purple skin and Monkian is hilarious.

I just finished reading the story. It was pretty good, but as a first draft it would certainly have some work to be done.

Lion-O lies quite a lot, which is against the honor part of the code, and he and Tygra keep having it out.

But I could see this being made, for sure.

It's cool reading a story with all the visual screenplay effects mentioned.

SLythe is SOoooooo EVIL! ANd I love Mumm-Ra...

Well, I finished reading the "script" and I have to say, if this were a fan fiction, it would be a decent read. As a potential movie, I would not waste my money on it. I mean no disrespect to grizzlor or any one at ThundercatsLair.org, but I hope that this is a discarded script at best. Whom ever wrote this probably has never really seen the show because there were so many things that just galled me about it.

Grune gets a hold of the Sword of Omens (how?) and murders Cladus's wife with it and all Cladus does is cuts off Grune's hair and banishes him? And of all places, to twin planets that 37 years later, the Thundercats just happen to crash land on? And I am sorry to say, but I was appalled by how the Thundercats were described. Purple skin? A pixieish sex kitten looking Wily Kit? Tygra acting a high and mighty leader instead of the gentle, instructor we all know him as? And fighting amongst the Thundercats and all anyone does is rolls their eyes at it?! What Thundercat history book was this guy reading?!!!!

I know that if they ever do make a movie of our favorite cats, it will be more along the lines of attracting an adult audience, but if Transformers could stick close to it's cartoon history, then why the hell can't ours and still be for adults? No, I'm sorry, I can't accept this script. I would rather the movie never be made rather then have this mockery of a Thundercat movie be created. That is just my honest opinion folks.

18TCLover, I would still suggest reading it so that you can make your own opinion. I looked at the comments over at TCL.org after I had made my comment and, although many of them thought as I did, some still liked the script. Everyone has differences of opinions and that is cool. It may be that you read it and like it, or you may not. You just have to make your own decision on it.

^^^I know but I was excited about it and if it's just going to let me down, then I'd rather not let it ruin my day.

Still you have a point. ;) *tackle*

Az,

Now that you have voiced your honest opinon, I feel more comfortable being completley honest.

It REALLY seemed like the writer was not a hardcore TC fan. Or even a fan. like they researched TC for a few early episodes and went for it. Lion-O was learning and Tygra was the voice of reason..... Now his story:   Like I said, lion-O lies all the time, Tygra is being high and mighty and not like the second in command at all. Wilykit has a crush on Lion-O and Kat on cheetara, who is this random new female??? Why not use willa or someone from one of the two origional seasons?

I was annoyed also at the writer's style. I get that this is a screenplay, which is interesting and a different style than many are used to unless you have done stage or screen.  But even as a screenplay it was very confusing to follow and did not seem to have the heart of the characers. One instance. The camera flys by past everyone and they all seem exited and happy and recognise it... but theres no one there until we find liono in the cave.... just weird.

It was like someone was commissioned to write it. Like if I had to write about the US Army, I'd say no unless I had a really good group of army consultants at the helm (sorry, Army, helm is a Navy term) But for instance, the last terminator movie showed off ALL the coolest new army technology bc they had awesome consultants who WERE army! But it had NOTHING to do with todays army, just their cool stuff! (Which was fine!)  Titanic used all the origional makers of dishware, furnature, equipment, and even consulted survivors and old footage to make it. And it was the biggest movie of all time. Why? Because James C cared enough to go the distance for quality.

I feel I have been around long enough now, (while not all that long compared to some of us) that if WB or any other production company wants to make a decent TC movie and write a really awesome TC script, the only way is to use the imput of the true fan base. Those of us who grew up with it and still devote ourselves to it this day! See us at www.eyeofthundera.net and other sites!

Thundercats, Hoooooo!

Love, Rangerkitty

P.S. Thanks for the confidence, Az. You're my first TC contact and a good friend. You are the reason I am here today. Your encouragement and inspiration have meant and still mean a lot. -L

From skimming over what Azmom and Rangerkitty has said, I'm very hesitant to look over this T-Cat "movie" script that has been posted up. If there is still no confirmation of this being the real movie script then it is purely fan based until further noted. And if it does end up being the real movie script after all, I fear it will cause an uproar with true fans that know everything by heart dealing with the Thundercats.

The movie Dragonball Evolution is very bad. A good take of an AU fan fiction turned movie as how my friend Steph and I claim it turned out to be. Nothing was really correct compared to the anime or manga. Just the names. This is one thing I wish to never see happen with the Thundercats. >.<

It is the real deal, it is an early draft of the full screenplay to the movie.
